Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-06-18

This policy describes what data Protween collects, what we do with it, and the choices you have. Protween is a desktop application plus a small license server; both are designed to collect as little personal data as possible.

Data we collect

  • Email address — provided at purchase via Creem (our Merchant of Record). The email is included in the signed license file so we can verify ownership during support.
  • Machine fingerprint — a stable, non-personal identifier derived from the operating system's hardware UUID. Used by the activation cap (two machines per license) so we know when a key has been activated on a new device. The fingerprint never leaves your device until you click “Activate”.
  • Order metadata from Creem — the order ID, purchase amount, and the country reported for VAT calculation. We do not see your payment card details; those are handled by Creem.

Data we do NOT collect

  • The contents of any Figma prototype you open with Protween.
  • The video files Protween generates.
  • Usage analytics, telemetry, or crash reports from the desktop app.
  • Cookies or tracking pixels on this website. (See “This website” below.)

Where data lives

The activation database lives on a Hetzner-hosted server in the EU. The license signing key is generated and held only on that server. Customer emails and order metadata are also held by Creem for payment-processing purposes; see Creem's privacy policy for details on their handling.

This website

protween.com is a static site. It does not run analytics scripts, set tracking cookies, or fingerprint visitors. Hosting providers retain standard access logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL) for security purposes; these logs are not used for advertising or shared with third parties.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal data we hold about you by emailing [email protected]. We respond within a reasonable timeframe (typically 7 days). If you are in the EU/UK, you also have rights under GDPR including the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

Changes

If we update this policy in a way that materially changes how your data is handled, we will post the revised policy here with a new “Last updated” date.
